To the family and friends of the crew members from the Andrea Gail, your lost family members will be remembered always. God bless all of you, from Madisonville, TN.
The movie really touched me but the movie is only a movie. It caused a court battle for the truth for Captain Billy Tyne (Cappy). Things were said that were exagerated. The real hero’s are the real people. I appreaciate so much the pictures. I’m going to frame them in honor of these men.
R.I.P the crew of the ANDREA GAIL………mother nature is a tough thing to fend off but im sure they tried their best
to win the fight.

Wow! Its really cool that these guys have been remembered! They really deserve it! God bless all who brave the sea….. You gotta be a special person.
I am so glad that I crossed your website. Being a sailor, this tragedy became very personal. My prayers go out for healing for all of those who loved someone that joined the ranks of those who “go down to the sea in ships” .
The sea is an unforgiving mistress, to those who seek their fortunes as well as their pleasures there, but she calls to us over and over again to return.
My prayer is that God would calm the seas for those who go, and our hearts for those who are lost, and for those who are left behind.
Please join me in that prayer.

I do not know if I can explain how I felt watching the movie “Perfect Storm..” Being a wife and mother, I felt as if my own heart and soul were shattered into a thousand pieces and my very breath were stolen. My spirit can’t help but be in tears.
May the Lord bless the families of those who were lost; and may those that were lost, rest in peace.

Bob, visit your site every week. Keep up the great photography. PS, the search for the Lady Grace continues. Regards,
I just finished watching the movie The Perfect Storm. I guess we who never really come in contact with the sea never really understand nor care how or where our consumstion of fish comes from or for that matter who, all we know and care to know is what fish we are eating and how good it tastes. Well, I would just like to say that my heart goes out to the relatives of these good men who sacrificed their lives for their families and fellow human beings, so that our lives will continue as we know it. God Bless them all and I thank them and their families for their great sacrifice.
Dear Mr. Baker!
My name is Andrea Leonhardt from Dortmund, Germany. I hope you understand me well, because my english is not the best. I write to you because I have a favour to ask of you and some questions. My husband Michael and I watched the film “The Perfect Storm” and we are dismayed about the destiny of the fishermen. My husband is a passionate patternmaker of ship. The Andrea Gail attracts us to copying it. Since last year there is a modelkit of the Andrea Gail to acquire. This kit is from the danish company “Billing Boats”. That kit shows indeed the A.G. before her rebuilding, respectivly the Lady Grace which used as pattern for the film. Because of the fact that we want to build the A.G. she looks like before her wreck, we are searching for pictures and plans or blueprints. We want to build her that she will be unique. We search and found your homepage. Have you maybe some pictures of the A.G. that you have not published and maybe you can give it to our disposal? Or maybe you know who have any pictures or some plans? Do you know what things changes at the rebuilding? We will engage us not to give this documents to any other persons. If you can help me I will be very happy, because with my request I want to surprise my husband. Pictures of our finished rebuilding of the modelkit we will mail you immediatly if you interested in.
Michael is a member of the community of interests of special ship ( called IG-Spezialschiffe) and so he is several times on exhibitions in Germany. He wants to show our unique to all people on the exhibitions who are interested in. With all details and facts and always in memory of the fishermen who died in this storm. A lot of people in Germany are interested in the film and we read, that the family of Captain Tyne wants to forbid the presentation of the film. It is important for me to say that we won`t lean us on the film or want to present the fisherman in any bad case. We all knows that the film is a great fiction and nobody knows exactly what happened on board and what a tragedy it was. We want only to rebuild the model in high fidelity quality and want to handle with care the memory of the fishermen who died.
If you are interested in, please look at the homepage ” http://www.ig-spezialschiffe.de“. There you can see what special ships are build by my husband and his friends. You can find a model of an american vessel, the “INVADER”.
A last question, do you know the exactly adress of the shipyard where the Andrea Gail was build and also rebuild?
I want to thank you in anticipation for your trouble.
Best regards to you.
Andrea Leonhardt
My husband and I took a trip up to Gloucester about two yrs ago. We live in Buzzards Bay, MA. After reading the book first and seeing the movie both of us were moved by the story of the Gloucester fisherman in general and what hard and dangerous work it is to do what they do. We visited the Crow’s Nest…bellied up to the bar for a couple of Bass on taps…and were warmly greeted by the bartender and the locals. They gave us a photo album to look at while we were there, of the making of the movie with the stars and extra’s. It is a special place to be to feel the “energy” of the fishermen, deceased and living. Life goes on for the locals of Gloucester and I am glad they have such a place to go to talk “stories” and be together.
R.I.P. The captain and crew of the Andrea Gail and all other’s that have gone down in the sea doing their jobs.
Respectfully,
Jackie and Mike
I have read that there were things said in the movie that were not really said,,, but isnt it that way with most all movies that are based on true stories? The point is, that the sad sad story of what happened out there to those men was told. The sea has no mercy. I am so intrigued with this story that I would love to someday be able to visit Gloucester and the place where it all happened. May God bless and be with all whom were involved in that tragic loss. Especially to the mother and girlfriend of one of the men.
You might want to take the caps lock off and clean up the English language. This is one of the hardest sites to makes sense of I’ve seen in a long time. You are doing a disservice to the men of the Andrea Gail. Please, clean it up!
MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND ALL FISHERMAN WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LIFE AT SEA DOING WHAT THEY LOVE TO DO…… ME ,MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY WATCH THE PERFECT STORM ALOT WHEN WE HAVE GET TOGETHERS AS WE LOVE TO FISH AND THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST WELL PUT TOGETHER MOVIES NOT REALLY KNOWING ALL THE FACTS….. MAY THE ANDREA GAIL AND ITS CAPTAIN AND CREW FOREVER REST IN PEACE
Wow! And Wow again!
Good job with this site.
It’s an honorable job that these men do. No, it’s not a ‘job’. It’s a profession. And more than that. I couldn’t do it and I’ve been a professional Seaman for 30 years. This is more like wanting to be an astronaut from the time you were 6 y/o and finally making that dream come true. Trust me, they are resting in peace. They have to be.
I really liked the Portuguese entry.
I Watch this movie Perfect Storm . .. .and god bless all the families that must Grieve . . . . . . .each time they remember there loved ones they lost
After watching The Perfect Storm I felt so bad for the families. All fisherman no matter if it’s Swordfish or Crab they are always in my mind. My thoughts go out to all of the families that have lost a loved one to the waters and mother nature.
To watch Swords: Life on the Line on Discovery Channel and see that Linda Greenlaw has come back to sword fishing makes her a strong woman for everything that she had gone through on the Hannnah Boden. Good luck and may God be on your side Linda Greenlaw and the Sea Hawk.
I am truly sorry for the loss of these fishermen, and their families. Every time I watch the Perfect Storm, I have to stop before the end; it just makes my heart ache. I can’t imagine what these brave men went through during their final moments. To their families and friends, I can’t imagine your pain, especially not being able to say goodbye, or even a marker upon which to leave flowers. I admire all fisherman no matter if it’s crab up in Alaska, or swordfish out in the Atlantic Ocean. It’s not something that I would ever be brave enough to do, so my hat goes off to all fisherman, for you are truly brave souls. God bless all of you, and may God keep you safe.
I worked with skip and murph and patty Mcdonah (ben pulley) all good guys to work with pierre I met on the Greeks boat F/V Panther the shock was the hardest sat to watch movie theres my dory mates they were the best to work with, they will always be missed and I do miss skip,s cookin take care conan
I DIDNOT KNOW THE CREW OF THE ANDREA GAIL BUT I KNOW HOW CLOSE FISHERMEN ARE. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMMENTS BUT IT DOES NOT MAKE THE PAIN ANY LESS I LOST A LOVE ONE BEFORE HER TIME WAS UP IT BEEN 20 YEARS I CAN NOT FORGET HER EVEN NOW I THINK OF HER THEY TELL ME TO GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE. BUT WHEN YOU LOVE SOMEONE IT NEVER LEAVES.I HOPE ALL THE PAIN WILL SOME DAY THAT TIME WILL COME TO PASS AND THE LOVE ONES OF THE ANDREA GAIL WILL FIND PEACE MAY THEY ALL RIP AND GOD BE WITH THEM ON THE HIGH WATERS I HAVE A FEELING THEY ARE STILL OUT THERE DOING WHAT THEY LOVED TO DO. YOUR STILL MISSED
My heart always goes out for the families of the crew of the Andrea Gail and watching the movie touches a spot in my heart for my dear friend and brother of Bobby Shatford especially who was lost. How he can continue to fish for the swordfish uses a strength I do not know! You all need to watch the show “Swords,Life on the Line” on History channel!
i think that this site would be alot better if it had more pictures of the Andrea Gail. Im dioing a project for high school honors english and i can’t find pictures of the andrea gail. so maybe you could and some.
that to bad about the Andrea Gail the worst storm ever and it had to be them.
I have seen the movie several times. I love the crew & pictures of the Andrea Gail & think there should be more. My heart goes out to all the familes of lost loves….but the lovers of the sea will continue on with these men of the sea always in fond memory. With many thanks for the familes . Without them books or movies would not be possible. I Thank you for letting me into your lives and lost loves but always remembered May God Bless
As I watch the movie again tonight, I can’t help but feel the terror & sadness in the eyes of the crew as they battle the storm that took their lives. It makes me so sad knowing that the brave men aboard the Andrea Gail lost their lives doing what they loved most. My heart goes out to all of the families and friends for the lost of their loved ones. Rest in peace crew of the Andrea Gail, you will always be remembered. May god always be with you. Lisa
may god continue to bless the families of the 6 brave men who lost their lives 18 years ago.
I watched this Movie again last night, My heart always goes out to the family and men that fish the seas, This movie leaves alasting impression on just how sacred our lives are.
My prayers go out to the familys that lost their love ones in this movie and all others lost at sea.
best wishes to the family’s if you update the photo’s maybe you can name each person in the photo’s.
my english just finished watching it. we all watched it to learn that fiction is not all fake. i decided to do research on the andrea gail. i offer my condolance’s and great regrets to the familys and friends of these men.
Our metalcore band is called Andrea Gail. I was touched by the story of these men. These people are real heroes who fought against nature’s fury. I will always remember it.
Sergey from Belarus.
I must of watched this movie 10 times, over the years since it first came out. I am sure we will never know what realy happened untill we see them again some day. It is not easy loosing a loved one. What I have leared since I became a Christen, is that one day we will see thoughs ones that loved us, touched our hearts and made an impact to us in some way shape or form when we graduate to heavin. We will truly miss these brave men. May they be forever in our hearts and know that we can go on in life untill God tells us we are finish. I bless the familys of these men and thank you for having the courage to go on. In Jesuses name I pray. Amen.
This is an epic movie. Ive watched it about 30 times. Not only in standard but blu ray also. The writer of this movie really lets the audience connect with the characters THE CREW. A real down to earth movie. I pray for the families of the Andrea, I just know the crew through the movie and I feel a lose.

I remember reading a story in Guideposts magazine or “Angels on Earth” magazine where someone told about being warned in a dream or something about not going on the Andrea Gail that last time. Do you know who that was? I remember reading the article shortly after the movie “Perfect Storm” came out and now I can’t find it in their archives! It’s driving me
batty, because I know I remember reading it, but can’t find it now. To all the family members and friends of the crew of the Andrea Gail, my heart goes out to you! We have the
movie and we watch it many times. Just got through watching it again. I wish I could find
that article!
God bless!
Marlene A.
god bless all those that go to sea, god bless the andrea gail crew
Thank you for publishing this website. I read the book, The Perfect Storm and have watched the movie. Of course, the book is more accurate than the movie and a much better telling of the story of the Andrea Gail. But I enjoyed the movie also, except for the portrait it painted of Billy, which I felt leaned kind of negatively as opposed to what was written about him in the book. All in all, if you keep in mind the movie is a Hollywood production with some exaggerations, it’s still a pretty good, moving, film to watch. God Bless the families and friends of the crew left to mourn their loss. I cry for them every time I watch the movie.
Hi – very good site you have established. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to publish a remark to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically delightful. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor for a marketing firm. I have always enjoyed functioning with computing machines and am trying to learn code in my spare time (which there is never enough of lol).
i had this movie for years on vcr. tape! and now on dvd. my son was 10 yr.s old at the time when it came out. i love the movie myself , i no the words by heart practicallly from hearing my son play it over and over. i swear it was this movie that made my son join the united states coast guard last year,he is now 19. my parents took us kids to glouster and rockport ma. for a vacation 2 times when i was young. i have the picture of me and my brother with the man at wheel. i still plan on getting there again soon cause my son is stationed close to there. the andrea gail-captain & crew will be in lots of people hearts forever. tara
just wanted to say that im doing an english project and i have to read a book and well ive seen the movie but i have never read the book. i love it!
it touched me very deeply enough to come to the website and write this.
may god bless and may he put their souls to rest.

I just finished reading The Perfect Storm for the second time; the first being just after it was published. I had no idea this website existed until, just out of curiosity, I decided to look up the Andrea Gail to see if any new information had come to light. That EPIRB bothers me to this day.
It’s hard to believe that all happened almost nineteen years ago. But I’ll never forget that storm. I live in the Plymouth area of MA, about 20 miles inland. We got absolutely hammered.
I can only imagine the fear and helplessness…in many cases, hopelessness…experienced by the principles in this terrible drama, and I still pray for those who go down to the sea in ships.
About 5 years before the Halloween Gale, which some to this day still call the “The No-Name Storm”, my husband and I visited the lovely city of Gloucester…and enjoyed a couple of friendly hours at the Crow’s Nest. We’ll never know whom we might have been rubbing elbows with, but they were wonderful to a couple of strangers. When they found out my husband was a Navy man, they bought us drinks. The fleet was in, so to speak, and we had a wonderful afternoon with these very welcoming fishermen; laughing with them, listening to their stories.
I am a big fan of The Deadliest Catch. Although it’s based in Alaska, its crabbers have fished the waters in this area for many years when crab season was over. They have mentioned the mystery of the AG a few times…and the unprecedented storm which took her life.
She will never be forgotten. God bless her crew, their families and friends, and the memories they will hold in their hearts until they all meet again on a calm and peaceful shore.
our reply we are also troubled about the EPIRBS BEING off or unarmed
your comment was another reason we wrote about what really happened aboard the Andrea Gail thanks for visiting Louise

I live in Nova Scotia and know that the storms here are phenomenal every year. I cannot imagine what they endured. Best wishes to the families and friends of those lost at sea.
in Maine but fished for years up and down the line we call it . a thin line between your home and mine. ,we do get similar weather in fall and winter, you must have just seen the movie recently, thanks for taking time to pay tribute to my lost mates. Andrea Gail
That is nice to definitely find a site where the blogger knows what they are talking about.
I became studying anything else about this on one more website. Exciting. Your perspective on it truly is diametrically opposed to what I go through to start with. I’m nonetheless contemplating in excess of the several factors of view, but I am tipped to a fantastic extent toward yours. And regardless of, that’s what is truly outstanding about modern-day democracy and also the marketplace of suggestions on the web.
Watched the Movie “Perfect Storm” Last Night for about the 5th time. Always Hoping For a Better Ending ……. I,m a Native of Portland, Maine. Had a lot of Buddies who were Deep Sea Fisherman. I Feel Stll a Lot for the Famlies of the 6 men who lost their lives. God is with them ……..

Hi there,I enjoy reading through your weblog Andrea Gail History » Blog Archive » Photos ANDREA GAIL images pictures ALFRED PIERRE , I wanted to write a little comment to support you and wish you a good continuation……All the best for all your blogging efforts.
Interesting. Thanks for that, however that is not the limit of my appreciation. I am afflicted with color blindness (deuteranopia in my case). I mostly use Safari browser (unsure if that changes anything), and far too many websites are hard to comprehend on account of a poor range of colors used. In your case, as the selection of colors is fine, the site is amazingly tidy and easy to read.
good morning Apple safari we or I just used an apple pc or laptop , first time july , safari was new to me and took a bit getting use to , I’m just about blind from typing and looking at this old pc monitor , pc seems easier for me to publish on our blogs.

What a awesome article about perfume, I didn’t think that you are going to discover anything here. A pleasant surprise, it takes place hardly ever, but below we can speak of the authentic extra worth to the reader. Annoy me about blogs generally amateurish article without fine type and with errors. Below I’m pleasantly stunned. Hopefully allow it to be to some authors, and create for their readers and not to own anything on the web.

Péter vagyok Magyarországról! Nagyon megindító az Andrea Gail története. Örülök, hogy rátaláltam a honlapra! Jó látni eredeti fotókat is a legénységről. Így megfoghatóbb mint a filmen. Sajnálatos belegondolni, hogy a képeken látható személyek a hullámsír rabjai….
I now live in Colorado but am English and, although born in Derbyshire, spent many years on the Kent coast. Being British we have a long association with the sea and how lovely and cruel she can be. The call of the sea draws me like a magnet and I have nothing but the greatest respect for the fishermen that risk their lives every day so that we can stroll into a store restaurant to buy fresh fish.
Anyone visiting Tower Hill in London should visit the merchant navy war memorial; the number of ships lost during war is staggering and will take your breath away.
I read the book Perfect Storm after watching the movie for the first time and couldn’t believe the hardships the men of the Andrea Gail had to endure and the toughness of their families.
I’ve just watched the movie again and now want to research all I can.
My heart goes out to the families of the men of the Andrea Gail and I cry when I think of their loss.
God bless you all.
thanks Christine for leaving a great comment for those that go down in ships at sea , the unknown masses who have been lost at sea.
Sorry to mislead you, this Christopher is a Christine.
I just happen to have been surrounded all my life mostly by men and worked for the government in their Marine Division. Also, my Godfather served on HMS Illustrious during WWII and the Merchant Navy after the war. The owner of my local wet fish shop at Dungeness, Kent was a Lifeboatman (RNLI) and, as you may know, they’re all volunteers – what greater sacrifice can there be? In Cornwall the entire Mousehole crew were lost on a rescue.
I’m 58 and my late husband, who was a Vietnam veteran, volunteered to join the U.S. Marine Corps following in his father’s and uncle’s footsteps.
I’m now going to be following very closely anything regarding the Andrea Gail and try to read as much as possible into the background of this tragedy. I know she’d been modified and was ‘top heavy’ and wonder if this was a contributing factor in her seaworthiness.
Please keep me posted, if you can.
Many thanks,
CHRISTINE!

yes I Brought Alfred To Portland , he spent the night here at my home in Hollis ,he took the grey hound bus to GLOUCESTER THE DAY THE Andrea Gail left, the movie showed Alfred in his room at the Crows nest , that was not true at all, may be the trip before, But Alfred came to Maine and spent one last night on land in my home ,
the movie is a movie . we family of the crew are not real happy about the movie version of events that was not accurate
