Thank you for sharing your memories of the Andrea Gail and it’s crew! I never knew of this boat or it’s crew until “The Perfect Storm” and they have never left my thought’s since. I would like to know the real story. I know hollywood never gives an acurate portrayal of the events. I will be checking back for updates.

Grew up in Northern Michigan along the shoreline of Lake Michigan with several of my friends and their families running fishing boats out of the area. As a rule, most think of these lakes as just that, small lakes…..sailors know the treacherous waters that these men sail. These lakes could not conjur up the storm that the Andrea Gail went through, but they still take lives. Your story is an inspiration to all who love the sea and our Great Lakes. I look forward to viewing any updates that you post. Good luck to you and your family, may you have calm seas and fair winds.

I never met the fellas either- I did however fish ( for swordfish on the Si-tex-7) myself out of Pompano and Ft. Pierce Fl. There is no way the movie captured the essence of these men but I am sure for those who knew them this was a good thing. I have nothing but respect for the fishermen and their craft.

  7. Deborah Lee Erdos Says:

I have known Bob Brown for 24 years and I will tell you that you all have it wrong!!! He is one of the kindest, hardest working men that I have ever met. He has always been there for anyone that knows him. He loves his family and adores his crews. Just because he expects the best does not mean that he is a bad person. Bob Brown is a very fine man and I hope that you will all no him a little better by this brief post.

  8. Captan seafever Says:

not bad Bob,like the idea of a class action lawsuit! Lobstered out of portland
for 7-8 yrs. Offshore with Steve Robbins for abought the same, ran groundfishing boats from newbedford to Portland untill regs finaly brought me to my knees! I can’t let them win! It was never a game with me,it’s a sence of pride in how I make a living I’ve been bugging Charile for the last 6 yrs. To take me swordfishing, and finaly got the call last nov. Waiting for his Brazilin crew to get there visas passed! NMFS almost won! Then again they could never have imagined the can do attitude of TWO-MOON CHARLIE!!!

FYI, The LG was sold very recently and is no longer at the docks in Gloucester. I happened onto the previous owner by chance and he said he could no longer finance the restoration. He did not say who bought it !

  10. DAVID HICKMAN Says:

  12. Kristina DiGiovanni Says:

I have watched the Perfect Storm and well remember the news stories about the “fishermen and crew lost” and I well remember the coldness and harshness as seen by many of that owner Brown. He was portrayed in the movie as the research I have read, was accurate, a bully and cares only for the bottom dollar, not the lives of the crew, nor their families. People need to be reminded of the older man who passed on the Hannah Bodden the sister ship of he Andrea Gail, the female capt of the boat paid for the funeral, NOT BROWN. He didnt’ wish too and hadn’t planned too. Greedy men care only for their greed, that cannot go forth with them into the Heavens.

thank you Kristina ,Brown was a hard man on the settlement .
the movie Paddy Died on the Hannah but in real life he died on another boat, his nephew was with Linda when his uncle Paddy died . Paddy was from a well known family in Portland Maine . his nephew Tommy gave a vivid account of Paddys last day alive on the Gloria dawn ,
Linda KNOWS what boat he really died on.

better news i met an old friend he let me scan his photo of Alfred Pierre . what a beautiful day meeting an old fisherman friend FLEA
he got that name on the panther, we talked about old days on the Andrea Gail and Alfreds New amazing picture
    will post photo soon

I’ve just finished reading the Perfect Storm, and through it I felt I was experiencing the hurricane, since I’ve lived 400 feet from the Gulf of Mexico for 40 years and my house was practically destroyed during Katrina.

I am very curious to know if the wreckage of the Andrea Gail has ever been found.

they have not located the Andrea Gail. the last known position is the only clue radioed in by Captain Tyne ,
