About The Author

Hi, I’m Bobby Baker. I grew up in Portland, Maine, and have been working on commercial fishing boats for a very long time. I’ve worked on many kinds of boats, and spent many many years at sea. I’ve killed many fish – all shapes, colors, and sizes.
I fished mostly in New England and the north east, but also did commercial sword fishing out of Puerto Rico. San Juan was an interesting place.

I have mostly retired from big boats, and I’m now fishing for Lobsters. Big commercial fishing is still my passion.

Several of the boats that I have been on have sunk at one time. I know many people that have died on the ocean trying to make a living for their family. I fished on the Andrea Gail as well, and for quite some time. I was very good friends with Mr. Alfred Pierre. he was from the island of Dominique (NOT the Dominican Republic!)

I live on my farm in Hollis, Maine. It’s 20 miles outside Portland, Maine. It’s nice up here. I have my dogs, and a few chickens now and then.

I have three children, a son and two daughters, and two grandchildren.

the Coast Guard hand cuffed me to the mast of the Andrea Gail on the way in to Gloucester march 1991, Billy Studer who also was on deck reminded me 19 years later about our trip. funny how this was nearly forgotten ,
